Chiller: A chiller is a critical component in many cooling systems, used to remove heat from a liquid via a vapor-compression or absorption refrigeration cycle. The chilled liquid, usually water or a glycol mixture, is then circulated through a building or industrial process to absorb heat and maintain desired temperatures. Chillers are commonly used in large-scale cooling applications such as in commercial buildings, data centers, and manufacturing facilities. They come in various configurations, including air-cooled and water-cooled types, to suit different operational needs and efficiency requirements.


CRAC DX (Computer Room Air Conditioner – Direct Expansion): CRAC DX units are specifically designed for cooling sensitive electronic equipment in data centers or server rooms. These units use direct expansion refrigeration systems to cool the air directly, which is then circulated throughout the room. The direct expansion method involves refrigerant circulating through the evaporator coils, cooling the air that passes over them, and then sending this cooled air back into the room. CRAC DX units are known for their precise temperature and humidity control, which is crucial for maintaining optimal operating conditions for electronic equipment.


CRAC CW (Computer Room Air Conditioner – Chilled Water): CRAC CW units are another type of air conditioning system used in data centers and server rooms, but they utilize a chilled water system for cooling. In this setup, chilled water is produced by a central chiller and then circulated through coils in the CRAC unit. The air in the room is cooled by passing over these coils, with the chilled water absorbing heat from the air. This method is often preferred in larger facilities or those with higher cooling demands because it can be more energy-efficient and scalable compared to direct expansion systems.
